A visit to the Strasserwirt, the oldest inn on the Poststrasse, not only delights the historically interested guest, but the culinary offerings of chef Werner Gander, with his quite individual vision of an authentic dining culture, are also convincing. His cuisine is genuine, the ingredients are fresh and of the best quality presented themselves the Erdäpfelteig-Tascherln with zucchini-curd filling, underlaid with the delicate aroma of tomato butter. The creamed veal scallop with fresh herbs and bread dumplings was classically balanced in flavor; a bit more acidity would have perfected the dish. The service is youthfully relaxed, very attentive and acts harmoniously.
The wine list offers primarily an excellent selection of top Austrian wines, at a very pleasing price-performance ratio.
